As Onkyo’s first 1080p upscaling Super Audio CD and DVD Audio/Video
player, the DV-SP506 is built on a platform of robust,
performance-focused A/V processing and HDMI™ capability. HDMI is the
pipeline through which your DVDs and DivX® sources are transformed all
the way to high-definition video quality. The DV-SP506 also delivers
multichannel PCM audio and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) over HDMI.To
enhance audio quality and system integration, the player draws on two
proprietary Onkyo technologies—VLSC and RIHD. Audio quality is further
boosted by three high-end Burr-Brown audio DACs and an internal design
that suppresses harmful vibrations.
DVD Video, DivX, and a Range of Music Options (Including Multichannel Music and MP3s)
The DV-SP506 is a “universal” playback device, meaning that it covers much
more than just DVD Video playback. DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD media
offer both two-channel and multichannel music with a truly wide range
and high resolution. Both formats offer the best stereo sound from
high-resolution and remastered recordings. This player will also handle
your standard audio CDs, as well as CD-R/RW discs containing up to ten
hours of MP3 or WMA files. Also, DivX video burnt to disc is another
option for video download via the internet.
HDMI for Passing 1080p Video, Multichannel PCM Audio, and Direct Stream Digital (DSD)
With high-definition 1080p HDTVs becoming a mainstream fixture in the
home, you now have the chance to bring out a previously unseen visual
quality from your DVDs. On top of video, the DV-SP506 will handle
5.1-channel PCM audio or DSD (the core encoding technology for Super
Audio CD).The DV-SP506's HDMI platform can also handle the full high
resolution of DVD Audio music sources, as well as other two-channel
music sources.
High-Definition 1080p Video Upscaling
If you’ve already invested in an HDTV, or are planning to in the near
future, the DV-SP506 is the perfect vehicle for getting the best from
DVD-Video discs and DivX.You can either watch your video source in its
native resolution, or you can upscale it to 1080p video resolution by
simply pressing a button on the remote control. Upscaled video sources
are delivered via HDMI.
VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) for Clean Audio Signals
A player’s main purpose is to read digital information and convert it into
an analog signal to feed to an amplifier or A/V receiver. One problem
with digital audio signals—especially those in compressed formats—is
their susceptibility to harmful pulse noise. To counter this, Onkyo’s
VLSC uses a unique digital-to-analog conversion circuit to ensure that
the DV-SP506 extracts the cleanest possible audio signal from all audio
sources.
High-End Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DACs
Keeping with the Onkyo emphasis on sound quality, the DV-SP506
incorporates three Burr-Brown (PCM1796) 192 kHz/24-bit audio DACs.These
DACs—originally found only in Onkyo’s high-end A/V receivers—feature an
advanced Texas Instruments DAC architecture that promotes excellent
dynamic performance and improves tolerance to clock jitter.
Simultaneous Output from All Video Connections (depending on setting)
This feature allows you to simultaneously send the same video source to
different displays via different outputs—from HDMI, component video,
S-Video, and composite video.
RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) for System Integration with RIHD-Compatible Onkyo A/V Receivers and Brand-Name Displays
The DV-SP506 features Onkyo's RIHD compatibility, enabling easy
integration with compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and leading-brand
displays, including selected Sharp models and models with Panasonic
VIERA Link™ and Toshiba REGZA LINK™ capability. RIHD functionality
allows your system to be connected via HDMI, for straightforward
integration and operation of multiple components.
In stores Onkyo DV-SP506 from October 2008 with price about 500$.
