in
December of 2006, we recorded another project brought to us by Peggy
Jo Oliva of Lucumi Productions. I'm still working on the first one, AC
Timba...but the new one demanded a pass to the front of the line. Featuring
Grammy-nominated drummer Raúl Pineda, percussionist Jйsus Díaz and
pianist Gustavo Ramírez, this septet plays a flavor of Afro-Cuban Latin
Jazz that is rhythmically complex, melodically memorable and high
energy. I used the title track at one of the EHX demonstration room
last year and received lots of positive feedback. One listener came up
to me and said, "This is not something that I would usually listen
to...but the sound, the localization and the energy of the track were
absolutely amazing.
Even the guys in the band were blown away. Raúl and Gustavo came to the studio not long after the session and couldn't believe that a recording could be so immersive. They'd been working on a CD of the same tunes over the course of 6 months and liked the musical performances and sound that we got in a single 5-hour session better!
This type of music was made to be experienced in surround...everything has a place of its own.
